Practicum Project: Building a Digital Materials Hub

For my project, I tackled the challenge of gathering together the differentiated materials our team has made and organizing them into an easily accessible resource that our staff could use quickly and easily. This project solves a problem that makes it difficult for teachers to share materials and collaborate effectively with digital tools. Our school’s English department resources are split between individual teacher network drives, a drive on the district network, teacher hard drives, and a series of shared drives in various locations and states of organization.

We also have widely varied skill levels and interests in technology in our building, which means that resources maintained in complicated or disorganized ways end up underutilized. The result is that the myriad of differentiated materials that we create in teams to support students with learning or language differences get lost and ignored. This project involved organizing and presenting materials in an easy to access manner for busy staff. To complete it, I met with our Instructional Specialist, surveyed the staff, finalized and organized the differentiated materials, and created a simple web page interface for teachers uncomfortable with navigating google drive.
